The Raspberry Pi GSM GPRS Expansion Board is an add-on module designed to enable GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) communication capabilities for a Raspberry Pi. This expansion board allows the Raspberry Pi to send and receive SMS messages, make and receive phone calls, and access the internet over a cellular network.
Raspberry PI GSM/GPRS Add-on V2.0 is customized for the Raspberry Pi interface based on the SIM800 quad-band GSM/GPRS/BT module. AT commands, can be sent via the serial port on Raspberry Pi, thus functions such as dialling and answering calls, sending and receiving messages and surfing online can be realized. Moreover, the module supports powering on and resetting via software.
The expansion board is specifically designed for use with Raspberry Pi models, providing cellular connectivity to the single-board computer. The module uses the SIM800 series GSM/GPRS module, which supports 2G GSM networks and enables communication over GSM and GPRS protocols.
The board interfaces with the Raspberry Pi through UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter) communication, allowing for serial data exchange between the Raspberry Pi and the Raspberry PI GSM/GPRS module. The expansion board includes a SIM card slot for inserting a standard GSM SIM card, which provides access to the cellular network.
The Raspberry PI GSM/GPRS module supports various protocols for communication, including HTTP, FTP, TCP/IP, and more, enabling a wide range of applications. This expansion board is commonly used in projects that require remote communication via SMS or data transmission, such as remote sensing, monitoring systems, IoT (Internet of Things) applications, and more.
The Raspberry Pi GSM GPRS Expansion Board empowers your Raspberry Pi with seamless cellular communication capabilities. Stay connected even in remote areas with limited Wi-Fi access, making it perfect for IoT and remote monitoring projects.
With support for GSM and GPRS protocols, this expansion board enables real-time data transmission. Whether you’re tracking assets or monitoring environmental conditions, you can rely on this board for timely and accurate data delivery.
Designed for easy integration, this expansion board features a compact form factor and a simple plug-and-play setup. It requires no complex configurations or extensive technical expertise, making it accessible to users of all levels.
